About Betty Jameson

Betty Jameson relies on strength of design and color to create compelling works with a variety of approaches in acrylic, watercolor and collage. Her expressive style strives to suggest and evoke rather than directly inform the viewer.

Selected the Georgetown, Texas Red Poppy Festival artist for 2014, Betty also had two paintings in the 2014 Austin City Hall People’s Gallery. She’s won many awards including selection into the 132nd American Watercolor Society’s International exhibit and recognition and awards from many state watercolor societies such as TWS,MOWS, SW,CWS,SWS,WFWS, Watercolor West and the International Society of Experimental Artists.

 

She  has had several invitational shows, in the Gallery at the J, Dell Community Center, Austin, Texas January 22-February 22, 2015, Huisache Gallery, New Braunfels, Texas March 11-April 20, 2016 and The Gallery at the Old Bakery and Emporium, Austin, Texas August 3-31, 2016.

Her work was Published in Watercolor Magic magazine, April 2005, on the cover of Holistic Medicine magazine, the Steamboat Springs Art Guide and in a CD compilation and book by Sue St. John entitled “A Walk Into Abstracts-How Did They Do That?” She also was chosen label artist for Messina Hof’s 2005 Private Reserve wine. She illustrated two children’s books, “Your Magical Party” and “A Dragon A Day”.

Receiving a BA in Art Education and a MA in Creative Expression, studies continued in Washington DC. the Torpedo Factory, the Corcoran Museum of Art, Georgetown University and in workshops with renowned color theorist, Joy Turner Luke.
